Earlier today, we posted news that Wilco‘s Jeff Tweedy has been nominated for the “Producer of the Year” Grammy for his work on Mavis Staples’ One True Vine. Last night, his West Coast solo tour continued at Kingsbury Hall in Salt Lake City. The Wilco heavy setlist featured only the second version of “Shakin’ Sugar” ever played as well as “One True Vine,” which appears on the aforementioned album. Full Story

On March 18, 2014, The War on Drugs will release Lost in the Dream, their follow up to their critically acclaimed 2011 album, Slave Ambient. The album was recored in Philadelphia, North Carolina, New York and New Jersey over a two-year period following their lengthy tour in support of Slave Ambient.
In addition to sharing the first new track, “Red Eyes,” the Adam Granduciel led band has announced a North American headlining tour that will kick off on March 18 in Philadelphia. >> Full Story
Ever since Beck stormed the music world in 1993 with “Loser,” he has always displayed a keen sense of fashion. Like his music, Beck’s sense of fashion evolved over the years. Whether it was a flannel shirt with jeans or a second hand suit, Beck always seemed to pull a look off.
Last year, Beck released Song Reader, a collection 20 songs of unrecorded sheet music. To celebrate the project, Warby Parker teamed up with Beck on Carmichael, a limited edition line of glasses. Tedeschi Trucks Band have released a lyric video for “Made Up Mind,” the title track of their latest studio album, Made Up Mind. The video’s content centers around the albums cover art, which features a buffalo and a steam engine on a collision course.
“Made Up Mind” was one of the first things we wrote for this record,” Derek Trucks tellsRolling Stone. ”We were working with Oliver Wood, and as soon as we finished the song, we had it in mind as a lead-off track and a title track for the album. It kicks the door down on this record, musically as well as the sentiment of the song. It’s a great band statement. Baltimore based Quilt won’t release their new album, Held in Splendor until January 28, 2014, but the hasn’t stopped Bob Boilen of NPR’s All Things Considered from gushing about the album. The host of show had this to say, ”I love this record. The aptly named trio stitches together a patchwork of gorgeous harmonies and dreampop textures.”

Goose Island will release Ten Hills Pale Ale on December 2, the first of three new limited run beers the brewery will release in the coming year. The hops for the beer were harvested at Idaho’s Elk Mountain Farms, a farm that has been harvesting hops exclusively for Goose Island. Like the famous hop farms in Europe, Elk Mountain Farms sits on the 49th parallel, which features an ideal climate for growing hops. The beer will distributed nationwide in six-and 12-packs of bottles and also on draught through March 2014. >> Full Story
Alex Bleeker and the Freaks have released a music video for “Step Right Up,” from their latest studio effort, How Far Away. Bleeker, an avid Phish fan, shot the video on the lot at a Phish show this summer. Bleeker had this to say about the Phish community: “It is my opinion that Phish has the most enthusiastic concert-going music fans in the world. The choice to shoot this video in the parking lot of one of their shows this summer was simple. This was the only large crowd I could think of that would lovingly embrace and interact with a man in an antler helmet without a moment’s pause.”

The Autumn Defense have expanded their 2014 tour that kicks off on January 14 at Club Quattro in Tokyo, Japan. The Wilco side-project headed up by bassist John Stirratt and multi-instrumentalist Pat Sansone will release their new album, Fifth, on January 28 via YepRoc. >> Full Story
MGMT have announced that they will open up a special tapers section at three upcoming shows on their current tour. The first show will be on Monday, November 18 when the band plays First Avenue in Minneapolis. The other shows are November 19 in Chicago and December 13 in Brooklyn.
