2012 has been a very good year for My Morning Jacket. Earlier this year, the band launched the wildly popular Spontaneous Curation Series where fans “curate” the setlist for the evening. The band seemingly plays epic show after epic show, always finding a way to top the previous show.
The band will close out 2012 with four shows in the Northeast. MMJ will hole up in the newly re-opened Capitol Theatre in Port Chester, New York on December 27 – 29. Those shows will be part of the Spontaneous Curation Series with no repeats guaranteed.
The band will ring in 2013 at Agganis Arena in Boston with Preservation Hall Jazz Band opening the show. This show will not be part of the Spontaneous Curation Series as the band will have plenty of tricks up their sleeves.
Jim James let the cat out of the bag earlier this summer by saying that the band would ring in the new year in Boston. The flip side of the story is that they originally wanted to play Madison Square Garden, but our beloved Phish had the Garden booked for the next four years!
